DESCRIPTION:Mr. Reed is going to run Skating Merit badge at the rink in the community center up in Port Jefferson on Saturday January 8th\, from 10:00 am to approximately 12:00 noon.  The merit badge can be earned all on this day.  The cost will be $20.00 for the use of the facility\, the skating rental\, and there will be pizza and soda afterwards.  The first part of the badge will be on the ice\, and the second part will be inside the center in a class room setting to finish the requirements.  Pizza and soda will be served at the end.  You need to let us know ahead of time if you are coming\, so please respond to this email if you are attending.  You can pay us at next week’s meeting.  Bring some warm clothes and good socks for the skating part.

DESCRIPTION:This is a backpacking trip up at Harriman State park\, NY.  The boys have to carry everything with them in their backpacks. \nThey have to plan their own meals\, do their own shopping\, and carry everything in and out with them. \nThey divide up into teams and share the load among the team for carrying the tent\, stoves\, pots\, and food. \nThis is not necessarily a campout for the younger and smaller boys\, although if a boy wants to go\, we will work with them.

SUMMARY:Webelos Woods
DESCRIPTION:Webelos Woods is Friday 11/5 through Sunday morning 11/7. \nWe will be meeting at the high school tennis courts parking lot at 4:30 pm (afternoon) on Friday to travel out to Baiting Hollow. If you can help with transporting the boys out Friday afternoon or Sunday morning\, please do so and let me know. \nThe troop supplies the tents for the boys.  The adults are on their own for tents.  The boys should be tenting with other boys. \nWe will be shopping for the food we will be eating Thursday evening at the Setauket BJs\, 7:30 pm \nClass B uniforms going out Friday\, and Class A all day Saturday. I don’t know what site we will be in yet\, I’ll let you know later in the week. Our assignment for this year is Fire Building\, and Fire Starting.  There is No BB range or archery this year. \nThe boys need to pick and choose what they want from the list\, they don’t need everything on the list. \nWe will be out 2 nights\, and it will be cool in the evening.  Dress and pack accordingly. The boys do not need tents and mess kits. Cool weather clothing\, Class A uniforms\, sleeping bag\, flash lights\, personal gear\, rain gear\, etc. are some of the things they will need. \nThe cost for the trip will be $20.00 for the boys\, and the adults are free.  The money is for the food and the patch. \nIf you are planning on coming out Saturday morning\, keep in mind that it gets very crowded early Saturday morning\, so leave yourself some extra time.  The webelos are usually told to be out at camp by 7:00 am in the morning. \nI will need to know by this Thursday morning what boys and adults are planning on coming along.  This is a two night trip.  You may not be able to be there both nights\, but I need to know what you are planning\, so I can make sure we have coverage\, and so we know how much food to buy. \nAny questions\, give me a call.  I will not be monitoring my email on Friday.

DESCRIPTION:The Mums pickup is this Sunday morning between 10:00 am and 12:00 noon at the Norwood Avenue Elementary school.  If you can’t make that please let us know\, and we can try and work something out.  We have a lot of plants to sort out for the orders\, so please be patient.  We should have them sorted before you get there\, but we are not going to release any orders until they are all sorted out to make sure they are all correct.  Liz’s phone number is 631-974-2968\, and if you text her\, make sure you give your name.  I will be there later in the morning with the trailer to help transport the flowers if needed. \nThe delivery of the mums is 7:00 am that Sunday morning\, and there will be approximately 700 plants to sort out.  So that is a lot of plants\, and we need some help sorting out the orders.  I will be on the camping trip\, so I can’t be there early in the morning to help out.  We need some people to come down and help Liz sort the orders.  This counts as community service for the boys.  Please do what you can to help Liz that morning.

DESCRIPTION:This is an Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony for the following boys. \nTheodore Granger\, Aiden Markowitz\, Anthony Foraci\, Sean Martinez\, and Steven Poulos \nIt will be at 12:00 noon at the Elks lodge in Centereach\, 41 Horseblock Road.  Class A uniforms. \nWe will gather at the lodge at 11:00 am to do a ceremony walk through so the boys should be there for that. \nThe ceremony takes about 2 hours\, and there will be coffee\, drinks\, and cake afterwards. \nWe will be at the lodge at 9:00 am that morning to setup for the ceremony and any help with that would be greatly appreciated.

DESCRIPTION:Concerning Covid-19\, youth must have proof of a negative Covid-19 test at least 72 hours before arriving at camp\, and they are expected to self-isolate for that 72 hours after the test.\nConcerning Covid-19\, adults must have either proof of vaccination\, or proof of a negative Covid-19 test at least 72 hours before arriving at camp\, and they are expected to self-isolate for that 72 hours after the test.\nOur money is safe.  If anyone has to back out of going to camp because of Covid-19\, they will receive a full refund.\nI’m not sure about what ferry we are taking to go to camp yet.  Probably the same one which is a 2:00 pm out of Orient Point.  They are saying arrival on Sunday will be staggered to allow for keeping separate.\nBut we are going home on Saturday\, not Sunday.\nSo the dates for Yawgoog this year are Sunday 7/18/21 to Saturday 7/24/21\nNo dress parade.\nWelcome campfire may be on the Tim O’Neil field.\nFor now\, the Friday night show will be on the Tim O’Neil field.\nThe swim carnival is going to be Saturday morning.\nMany merit badge classes will be outside to allow for social distancing.\nThey recommend bringing your own chairs to things such as gatherings\, and merit badge classes.\nMerit badge classes will run Monday to Friday  For the boys\, it means we are going to have to prepare earlier for what you are preparing to do so we can make up our schedules.\nNo individual pictures\, but there are still group pictures.  No Tuesday or Sunday Barbeque\nThe staff’s day off is Saturday 10 am to Sunday 10 am\nSinging and cheers will not be allowed during meals\, and the program in the dining hall will be limited.
