SUMMARY:Pine Barrens Hike
DESCRIPTION:The weather looks OK for this weekend right now.  I was checking out the hike this past Saturday\, and the start of the hike is in a small parking lot on the south side of 25A\, just after J&R Steak house in Rocky Point\, and just before the Stop and Shop.  Those two shops are on the north side (left)\, but the parking lot is on the south side.  The sign for the parking lot is set back from the road.  You don’t see it until you are right on top of it\, so slow down just before Stop and Shop.  I’m guessing 3 to 4 hours to do the hike.  The pickup point is on Whiskey Road.  From the drop off point\, you go a little further on 25A and make a right at the light at Rocky Point Yaphank Road.  You go south on that for a couple of miles\, and make a left on Whiskey Road (there is a traffic light there).  The pickup point is about a mile down the road on the left hand side.  You will see my truck there (dark grey Tahoe).  If we get a lot of boys\, we will need you to pick them up.  But if we have enough cars we will transport them back to the high school.  This is a long walk so please make sure the boys are wearing comfortable shoes\, and have them bring something to drink. \n  \nMap (PDF): PineBarrensRockyPtToRidge_wnotes
