SUMMARY:Cathedral Pines Bike Campout
DESCRIPTION:This is our usual Bike Campout at Cathedral Pines in Middle Island.  It is close to people can come and go as they need for other activities.  We will be meeting at the Uncle Giuseppe’s parking lot at 9:00 am on Saturday morning\, camping overnight\, and coming home late Sunday morning.  This is a perfect opportunity for the first year scouts to do their first campout\, and satisfy a rank advancement requirement.  This is a Bike campout\, so the boys should bring their bikes along.  Don’t forget their helmets (required) and any protective gear.  There is a very large bike trail that surrounds the camp\, and the boys have a lot of fun with it.  We can fit quite a few bikes in the trailer\, but if the number of boys attending gets large\, we may need some truck help with that.  There have been ticks in the past\, so I will be making sure the site is sprayed\, and the boys are sprayed.  I will be going over tick prevention and care at the upcoming meetings\, and you should be checking them when they come home.  There is a good article in the Boy’s Life they received recently.

SUMMARY:Elk’s Flag Day Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:This is the Elk’s Flag Day ceremony at the Atria on Route 347 in Setauket.  It will start at 10:30 am\, and last for about 1.5 hours.  So I will need adult and boys help from those not attending the camping trip\, or those that can leave the camping trip early\, and make the ceremony.  The boys carry out a dozen flags in the ceremony\, and the adults supervise.  The boys should be in full Class A uniform.  There are no speaking parts\, just follow the Elk’s lead.  The adults should keep a list of who attended\, and the Elk’s may want that list to announce the names at the end of the ceremony.
